'Sand Plains' by George Rose

George Rose is a Melbourne-based artist best known for her large-scale murals. Using her love of colour and gradients with a focus on endemic flora and abstraction to create her energetic artworks.
When she’s not working on commercial projects, she’s on the global street art festival circuit. Rose has proved herself to be one of Australia’s leading street artists, with over 150+ murals to her name. She has recently won the Resene Total Colour Visual Art Award.

ABOUT THE ARTWORK

The Top End is among the richest places in the world for Bladderworts, a small aquatic carnivorous plant. Their diversity is the highest on the sand plain habitat's which is a seasonally inundated wetland situated just outside of Darwin. This work depicts several rare species endemic to this unique Darwin ecosystem
