Kororia AKA (KBAR) is a local Darwin artist since 2021. She is of Maori / Cook-island heritage and was born and raised in Papakura, a small town in Auckland, Aotearoa. Auckland was one of the many well known suburbs for graffiti and tagging which influenced Kororia to express herself through graffiti/art throughout high-school. Fast forward 15 years Kororia has experienced a variety of creative arts that range from music and dance as well as different art mediums from sketching, carving, paints, and now more recently, Digital and spray paint. She has connected with many local artist within the Darwin community which has built confidence in being creative in the public eye. Kororia implements her artistic ability in her career as a disability support worker and through out the community with designing logo’s, merchandise, tattoo’s, banners and personalised pieces. Eventually, Kororia would like to pursue a career related to art and to help others express themselves through creativity as well. Kororia aims to paint in more popular street art locations around the country and eventually the globe. She believes art is a way to connect with people from all walks of life and thrives off of connecting with anybody who can relate and or is curious and stops by to have a chat. Teaching youth and people with mental health how to express themselves through art is another goal she would like to reach.
